Involving Parents in School Safety
School district leaders are now, more than ever, reaching out to their parent communities in new and powerful ways. When it comes to school safety, parents need to know that schools have gone beyond standard fire drills and emergency contact information. How are districts involving the community in their plans to keep schools and students safe, and families informed? Participants of the virtual round table learned how the media, early responders, and new protocols and practices have become a part of three school safety programs.

The participants of this Virtual Round Table on June 30, 2008, learned answers to those exact questions.  The following three school district leaders shared their success stories.
